The Art Lady - "Art is Life"

Laurie Anderson is perhaps one of the most significant artists of this century; a poet, writer, visual artist,       sculptor and social commentator, she is perhaps best known as a recording artist, one whose technical wizardry and live shows have earned her a reputation as Diva of the Avante-Garde.

She's a lot of things. In general she's known as a quote-performance artist. A performance artist is an artist who works in the medium of live performance. Laurie's performances use a bewildering variety of media, including film, electronic and acoustic music, slides, costumes and other weird effects that don't even have names.

An excellent site for viewing installations   and sculptures using robotics and includes technical information and software used in creating these futuristic forms is amorphic.  The visuals of installations are clear and sequential.
A good starting point for introducing robotics as an art form. The drawings and technical information will give students a sense of the processes involved in creating their own art pieces.

Troika Ranch is a New York City based dance theater group founded in 1993.  Artistic Directors Mark Coniglio and Dawn Stoppiello created Troika Ranch as a result of their shared
interest in challenging the boundaries of theatrical dance performances. This formalized an ongoing working relationship that had begun when they were both students at California
Institute of the Arts in 1988.
"Our mission is to create vibrant performances that dramatically address the contemporary urban landscape through the integration of four disciplines: dance / music / theater /
interactive technology.
Our attempts to fuse these forms are what swe call The Slash Arts.
The Slash Arts is a search for the chaotic area where these four forms mix.  It is in this mixture that we formulate our performances;  works that we hope will challenge our audience intellectually and emotionally."
