A Renowned South African Artist

CD ROM

ISBN No. 0-620-21585-2

This CD ROM explores the uses of etchings and drawings in an animated form  to communicate the artist's thoughts and feelings about the human condition. I recommend the use of this CD ROM  by high school-aged children and  teachers of younger-aged students who wish to understand the methods and techniques of creating a multi-media portfolio. This artist work is an excellent exemplar of how the art standard 9.1j can be met.  He has mastered the use of traditional and contemporary technologies to produce works of art that become alive.

The implications are that the social and human issues can be creatively and effectively expressed through the use of art.  Art in combination with the  new technologies increases the students awareness and opens lines of communication for discussion about these issues..

I would recommend seeing Jim Reinhard's Production, "The Allegheny River Project". In this project K-12 students produced  multi-media presentations  which tell about the Allegheny river and its historical, social and environmental implications.
