Analysis: Breaking down of information into parts.

Application: To use rules, concepts, principles and theories in new situations.

Arts: Dance, music, theater and visual arts.

Contemporary Technology: Tools, machines, implements or media emerging and used today for the practice or production of works in the arts.

Curriculum-specific: Rather than defining specific content, this term allows the classroom teacher and/or school district to determine what their learners learn.

Demonstrates: Exhibits understanding of communicated material or information.

Elements: Core components that support the principles of the arts.

Evaluation: Judging the value of materials or ideas on the basis of set standards or criteria.

Formal Production / Exhibition: The showing or performance of a work in the arts for an audience.

Humanities: The branch of learning that connects the fine arts, literature, languages, philosophy and cultural science. The humanities are concerned with the understanding and integration of all human thought and accomplishment.

Know: To recall or locate specific bits of information.

Original works in the arts: Dance, music, theater and visual arts pieces created by performing or visual artists.

Principles: Essential assumptions; basic or essential qualities determining intrinsic characteristics.

Re-purposing: The act of rededicating an object, skill or concept to a purpose other than that for which it was originally intended.

Synthesis: Putting together of ideas into a new or unique product or plan.

Traditional Technology: Tools, machines, implements or media used for the historical practice or production of works in the arts.

Use: To apply rules, concepts, principles and theories in new situations.
