Many old songs have withstood the test of time, such as historical folk songs that told a story or gave more insight into the time period. Lots of classical pieces are still around today most likely due to their simple construction of timeless cadences and chords, much like Beethoven and Mozart's work.

I think it stands up to music today the same way most old music stands up to music in the way of it having a timeless effect. Most will always find music like this as beaituful. Old can be a very opinionted term but I think other than classical music old songs are songs from the 80's and songs from bands like queen that stay in peoples lives for a long time and create traditions.

i think it doesnt matter how old music is, as long as it still affects and touches people it is just as valuable as any other song

Music that is good is good, there is no denying it. Old music is a part of our society. Old music is seen from way back when, all the way too like 10 years ago, old could be defined by each person differently.

I think certain music is just timeless, and this is one of those pieces. I think that the composer knew what he was doing when composing this piece and did it in a particular way in order to make it timeless.

Old music set the boundaries and "rules" for today's music, which is why I think composers like Beethoven are still prevalent today.

I think that old music was much more literal than today's. It was much more in depth with complex compositions with feeling and dance and folk/religious bases, while today's is much more casual and has less rules.

I think that old music definately sounds old and every time period has a distinctive feel. Although I believe that old music has more complex chords and melodies than pop music today (for example), I think that music that conveys emotion is revelant in any time period.

The chord progressions and the guitar shredding can almost be conparable to rock music in my opinion. This sounds kind of weird but there are multiple string instriments: one or two playing rhythm, and one playing lead. This shows that music style can transfer over different genres.

This song is liked for the same reasons that music today is popular: it has a good melody and chord progression. Most old songs are forgotten, rather than being considered "not good" after a certain amount of time has passed. While many modern listeners may not like the song, they can acknowledge the traits that make it a "good" song.

Personally, I don't care how old a song is. If the song reaches out to our minds or touches us with any characteristic, the song is doing its job.

I  think that good music can withstand any amount of time. While music may evolve, the things that make music great will not change over time.

Old music has become timeless, becasue the only old music we hear today is the best of the best of the old music. I think someday when our music is old only the best will survive so people will also think that the music of today is great.

"Old" and "new" music are very much relative terms, dependent on your age, what/how you associate with time periods of music, and how you measure what is old and new. How many years old classifies "old" is something people determine for themselves.
