For this composition, we were given a melody that someone else had written and asked to use one of a set of forms to make a song. I chose the ABA form for my melody. I had a difficult time at first because in the middle of the melody it switched from C major to A minor but I settled on A minor. At first I just tried to harmonize and make it sound good. At some point, I thought it sounded something like a pirate jig so I decided to keep it the way it was. I made it simple so that there would be an element of almost mystery so that the listener could decide what they would want to think. I really enjoyed this composition because it was hard but also entertaining.
