Planned Instruction and Best Practice Community of Learners 5
Each participant prepared standards-based planned instructional units featuring Proposed PA Academic Standards for production, performance, and exhibition using contemporary technology. Here are some photos and commentary about the work and the experience of being part of the Pennsylvania Governor's Institute for Arts Educators.
I've had some frustrations, but I've learned there are more web sites for the arts than I had imagined. I learned a lot more about searching the net and I didn't realize how powerful software can be. The programs I had only heard of before, I now feel I can use effectively. |
My experiences here will give me more leverage with my administrators. I need to get access to the computer labs for my art classes. Also, when I get back home I think I'm going to sleep for two days. |
The institute opened my eyes to technological products and innovations that I can use immediately to enhance and enrich instruction and curriculum in my drama workshop. |
Being that the technology is so easy to use, it is especially easy to produce a proficient product without much effort. Which is wonderful as a motivation, but dangerous as possibly lessening the desire to endure rigorous training. |
No! |
Actually, I'd like to do two things. We are currently changing our curriculum and I will incorporate what I have learned here about standards into the revisions. I will also present an in-service to our arts teachers.
I only finished my certification 2 years ago and to me the standards are essential. When the other teachers see that I am adhering to a set of standards, then there is a hope that they will take the arts more seriously as a curricular subject.
I know what I would like to do, in fact. I know what I am going to do. I am going to develop a computer arts program back at my school district, because technology is a viable tool for the arts and for life itself. |
The schedule was rigorous but everybody's been real helpful. Everything was great. |
